Fall 2008 Couture: Elie Saab

I am finally updating with an actual post! I hope that someone finds this. I was looking over some of my past posts and I have come to the conclusion that I am an idiot/loser. I would just like to say, I know nothing. I just find joy in rambling on and pretending like I actually know something. Keep that in mind as you read this and don't mock me (even though I'm making myself quite mock-able).

Here's what I like: Paris Haute Couture.

I do believe this is taffeta, although, I really can't be sure! Regardless of what this fabric is called, I'm impressed by how untacky both of these dresses actually are! Sure, they're a bit overdone, but, it is couture, after all!

I love the flowiness of the dress on the left and I really adore the color. The dress on the right reminds me of one of those pastel prom/grad dresses I just can't stand. The only difference? I love this one!
The one on the left reminds me of Marchesa and the one on the right reminds me of drapes but I still think they're both beautiful!
I love, love, love this color! The detailing and fit of the dress on the left are quite exquisite and I love the mixture of fabrics on the right.
I am obsessing over the dress on the right! Again, loving the color and the mixture of fabrics!
I cannot decide whether I love this color or hate it. Either way, the flowers on these two dresses are fantastic! I love the tiny flowers scattered on the skirt of the dress on the left and the big flower (rosette, I believe it would be called) on the right reminds me very much of that dress Sarah Jessica Parker wears in Sex and the City. I haven't actually seen that movie, I've just seen the picture of that dress half a dozen times! Is the movie even any good? It looked sort of silly, but that's just my opinion (cute clothes, though)!

The draping on both of these dresses is quite magnificent (bear with me, I'm running out of adjectives)! I love the details done in that tan-ish color on the left!

Well, I hope I haven't bored you to death! And, I hope that someone finds this! And, I found the most fantastic site on the face of the universe, so, that might just lead to another post!

Wow, the last time I posted was in April - that's rawther amusing (as Eloise would say)! I actually had totally forgotten about this blog until a few days and I decided to check it out and look at everyone else's and write this post and see how long it takes someone to find it. Keds and Other Flats

Here's what I like: shoes!

Especially flats and especially flats that don't leave nasty ouchies all over my feet. You should really ask to see my feet sometime, they have all sorts of sick scars and scabs from various shoes I've worn. Anyways, these are some of my favourite flats either from Keds or Endless because I wasn't original enough to look on more than 2 sites.

I have been eyeing these Keds by Nanette Lepore Script Skimmers (left, $60.00 USD) for quite some time and am actually considering buying them. I love that they're black and white so they'll go with anything! These Keds by Eleanor Grosch (right, $39.99 USD) are so cute and fun! I tried on a pair with the faux Sherpa lining and they were so comfy.
These flats by BC Footwear (left, $44.95 USD) are so cute and fun! I love the color (they come in 2 other colors, as well) and these flats are also up for consideration! These Freckles flats (right, $34.95 USD) are definitely cute and I love the open toe but for some reason they're just not my favourite.
So these aren't from Keds or Endless but designer shoes are so gorgeous. These Fendi flats (left, $388 USD) are a bit of a gross color but I love the buckle. I love the detailing on these Anna Sui flats (right, $2249 USD), so fresh!

After school, I was at Dairy Queen (which, you may remember a few years ago I was absolutely addicted to and my parents had to limit the amount of DQ ice cream I could eat) 'cause my mom was doing something else but I didn't want to do something else so I went and I got ice cream. And then, I walked home in the wind, eating ice cream, wearing shoes that basically didn't supply any warmth. And then I got home and the door wasn't completely closed so I was freaked out someone had broken into our house and was waiting to murder me.

I love New York Fashion Week. Have I ever mentioned that? In keeping with my routine, I have picked 3 of yesterday's shows to post on but let me tell you, it wasn't easy! With shows like DKNY and 3.1 Phillip Lim, I was sad to only have time for 3. But check it all out, there's some gorgeous shows!

And what have I been up to in my spare time? Drawing hamburgers, studying, breaking trampolines -I am so guilt ridden about the whole breaking the trampoline thing that I actually called a trampoline repair place. On the phone. All by myself. This is huge, because, I hate phones. They scare me so bad. Anyways, I'm forcing myself to dish out over a week's allowance just to fix the stupid thing. I'm not exactly in a cheery mood, but, I figured it was time to update. Even though I don't feel like writing. So, I'm just posting pictures. From Christian Dior Haute Couture SS07. Fashion18 Disney Editorial

You probably noticed that I decided to put 3 little icons at the top of each post, these may or may not have to do with the post, I just really, really, really like icons. That is why I always change my MSN icon. Right now I have this really cut one of The Lion King - you must really strike up a conversation with me on MSN so you can see it! These 3 icons are from that movie with Goofy that I didn't even know existed till mere moments ago. Anyways, I wanted to post some pictures of this really cute fashion editorial in Fashion18 - everything was shot in Disney World! What a great location, and the clothes are pretty brilliant as well.

Who doesn't love suspenders? I mean, seriously, how can you not? Sadly, I didn't get a pair of suspenders for Christmas.

Very nautical. Although, it's a little weird how they're both wearing practically the exact same outfit! Dumbo is so cute, I always felt sad for Dumbo. But he looks very happy in this picture and I am happy. And I like this dress, except, I probably wouldn't like the dress in real life because I don't like that kind of dress in real life. But it's nice in this picture.

I love this dress that she wore to the 2006 Academy Awards, so elegant!

I must say, those glasses make her look very intellectual.

Project Runway: Season 3 Finale

It makes me pretty sad how no one leaves comments anymore. My last post got a total of 0 comments (granted, that was only yesterday so I think I can understand). But, that is of little importance, because, I am here to blog about one of my favourite shows - Project Runway! If you care to know, my brother's friend has met Tim Gunn - how cool is that?! But anyways, here are my favourites and least favourites of the Season 3 finalists' collections:

Jeffrey:

Probably the meanest man on the show, but, seriously amazing clothes! He made the most amazing couture dress, it was bright yellow and didn't even look tacky! But back to his collection for the finale, most of what he made was pretty unique - such as the yellow zipper he used on the blow two pictures (look closely - the zipper's are yellow).

Laura:

She reminds me of Chanel in the sense that she uses a lot of classic colors and has very elegant designs. Her collection wasn't my favourite but I still liked it. I wasn't to fond of the gold belt (left) - it just looked weird on the gorgeous silver gown, I though.

Michael:

I'm not sure what I thought of Michael's designs but I did enjoy all the babydoll dresses he made for his collection - lots of wild patterns and nice cuts.

Uli:

I absolutely adore Uli! She is such a tropical girl and her designs definitely reflect. She has an amazing sense of color and I love her flowy and bright dresses.

I found this verse and it made me think - a lot. Because I do the whole 'joking' thing pretty often without a second thought. And I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but, I hope you'll watch your words and speak them in love because sometimes what you say can impact people a lot more than you meant them to. I've seen people crushed by some one's joking words, I've been crushed and you probably have too.

Mrs. French Teacher: Honorary Cool Cat

So today, I was sitting in french - being a cool cat cause that's just what I do. All of a sudden Mrs. French Teacher starts talking about Paul Hardy. I say to myself (in my head, of course), "Who on earth is Paul Hardy?" and Mrs. French Teacher keeps talking about how he is some Christian fashion designer from right here in Cow Town! And I say to myself, "Lame-o!" because, cool cats just say things like 'lame-o'. They also say 'retardado' and 'crackalacking' which are pretty crackalackin' things to say. But back to Paul Hardy - I have a curious mind so, I decided to go onto Google and search 'Paul Hardy' and then I click on a website that looks very official. And it takes me to this page and an image flashes across this screen of a bunch of models standing in a church and I think to myself, "Hey - that looks familiar!" and so, I begin to sort through the filing cabinets of my brain and I remember when one time I was watching the television and they showed a fashion show that took place at that exact same church and it turns out it was Paul Hardy's fashion show that I was watching and now I think to myself, "Whoa! Paul Hardy isn't a lame-o! I'm making Mrs. French Teacher an honorary cool cat!"

Anyways, just to prove that Paul Hardy isn't a lame-o, I have pictures!

This is all the models lined up at the front of the church - the very picture that triggered my memory. And there's something that looks like a casket which is sort of ironic because that was what some cool cats were talking about this morning - it was exciting. But I was grumpy so I didn't join in on that conversation very much.

And these are clothes from Paul Hardy's Fall/Winter 06/07 Collection that I like. Mostly I like the outfit on the left but the other is crackalackin' also.

Also, I left Ceeny-Bear a comment that said I would post pictures of pogs and write you a poem but I'm not and I apologize because I realize that makes me a liar.

Marchesa, Straight off the Runway

I like how they're all wearing the same dress, it's by Marchesa, from the Autumn/Winter o6/07 Collection. It just makes me laugh - so much for originality! But Marchesa dresses are quite beautiful, so, I can't blame them.

On the left is some starlet named Padma Lakshmi-Rushdie who I have never heard of, in the center is the debut of the dress on the Marchesa runway and on the right is Mischa Barton whom I think we all know.

It sorta looks like the dress is falling off of this 'Padma' lady and Mischa Barton's knees look funny. Those are my casual observations. The dress itself is gorgeous, although, it reminds me of my grandparent's house for some reason. Probably because their couches have a similar pattern.

Anyways, I think another post about Marchesa may come to be in the near future because it's all just so gorgeous!

Lauren's Fall/Winter Favourites

Sweater Vests/Dresses: Right here you've got the best of both worlds - argyle sweater vest that's long enough to be a dress. With leggings. I really love leggings with sweater dresses. Plus I love argyle. Especially argyle vests. Possibly because I'm a nerd and enjoy wearing vests? $85.00 USD from Aritzia.

V Necks: It's hard to tell because of the pattern but I love how the sleeves overlap the neck line, especially with an empire waist. Very modern and sophisticated. $19.80 USD from Forever 21.

High Necked Tops: Honestly, the red buttons on this top are borderline obnoxious. But I do love the use of lace and bishop sleeves. $68.00 USD from Free People.

Patterns: Patterns are basically really cool. Especially weird and abnormal patterns. And nice patterns. Any patterns. $58.00 from Urban Outfitters.

Plus I like suspenders and red patent leather heels and dresses and leggings and wide legged pants and long, elegant coats. As well as many other things. But I especially love cannelloni. Have you ever tasted anything more delicious in your life? But profiteroles and fettuccine alfredo and perogies and seashell macaroni are also pretty good.

Vera Wang Princess

I kept seeing this ad for Vera Wang Princess and it always bugged me because I thought the model looked so much like an actress from one of those lame Family Channel movies. Anyways, turns out they are the same person (Camilla Bell, is her name). I started looking at some of the ads for Vera Wang Princess and they're pretty cool. I love how fairy-tale like it is. But it's still a bit quirky. Here's another one of the ads:

I think I smelt this fragrance once upon a time but I can't even remember if I liked it or not. But I think the purple holder/canister thing is fairly cheap looking, in my opinion. And there's this reallly fun game on the website: go here and click on 'Begin Your Reign' - I was a Bohemian Princess.

I think I really love these because they're overalls but they're more like pants with suspenders and I happen to love suspenders and if we were allowed to wear un-uniform I would wear these every single day. And then people would say to me, "Y'know what Lauren? It's OK that you are poor and can only afford one pair of pants. Jesus will always be your friend!" And then I will just laugh heartily because, I know how jealous they must be of my cool pants. I'll be wrapping up this whole Olympus Fashion Week thing pretty soon, which, from the lack of comments I've been getting, no one's really enjoying anyways. But hey, I like looking at all these pictures - it's therapeutic. Plus, 4 days till my birthday!!!

Michael Kors:
I love the sort of dance style this collection featured. Ever since seeing Step Up, I've been slightly obsessed with dance clothes (lots of flow-y dresses and tops, leggings etc.). This is more formal than that - skirts, sweaters and such.

Carolina Herrera:
The pattern on the left dress is really cute, the black and white and cut of the dress makes it really stand out and I think the model is quite pretty. I love the fabric on the right dress, it looks so flow-y and very elegant. But I'm not really liking the ribbon thing around the waist, it just looks so out of place.

Guess who's birthday is in 5 days?!?! That would be mine. I'm finally turning 15. I hope Celine still makes wallpapers for people's birthdays (hint, hint - I'm so subtle). And here is more from Olympus Fashion Week, how very exciting!

Lacoste:
I have absolutely no idea what is going on with this horrendous collection. It's just plain ugly. Usually I like Lacoste, it's preppy but still fun. This was just ugly. I don't know all that much about fashion, but these pieces are just weird. No offense if you like it or anything. But the first outfit looks like something some old, blind grandma would wear and hot pink pants were definitely not made for males.

Anna Sui:
This collection was much, much nicer than the above (but I think that most things would be nicer than that). Black, white and red were all key colors and I love the rocker chic look. Lots of black and white patterns and I love the emphasis the red brings to the waistline and hemline on the right. Plus the pirate-esque hat (also on the right) is quite awesome.

So since I was way lazy, Olympus Fashion Week is over and I have done what, 1 post on it? But I will keep posting about Fashion Week to my heart's content because I would like to! And in case you didn't know this tidbit, Calgary had it's first ever Fashion Week! In ended a few weeks ago and I didn't even get to go to any of the shows because a) I'm not legal drinking age and b) I wasn't allowed to miss school.

Naeem Khan:
I liked how he used lots of black and white/cream but in various ways to make the pieces either bold or soft and elegant. The flowered bodice and flowing fabrics (left) make the dress look very spring-y. The dress on the right is very mod with the bold black and white and 2 simple white stripes.

Abaete:
So, as you may or may not know, Abaete is one of my favourite designers. This collection had a few bright primary colors (usually paired with some black), lots of baby doll dress, tie up sandals and black and white patterns. I'm not to keen on the floppy hat (right), it reminds me of what those 'kidnappers' wore on that one MK and Ashley video where the kidnappers turned out to be those clowns trying to get the family on a cruise. That was just weird...

Anyways, I might post more in the afternoon so you can get all excited about that!

So guess what!?!? It is Olympus Fashion Week! I have no idea what 'Olympus' is supposed to mean, though, so I just say New York Fashion Week. And this is exciting because it just is. So it started a few days ago, but I was too lazy to update a few days ago. So these are some of my favourite pieces of the spring/summer 2007 collections! Please do enjoy.

BCBG Max Azria:
I love all the vibrant colors, they're not overpowering but they're so spring-y. And the fabrics are spring-y too. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I like this collection because it's spring-y. Wow, I sure do have a way with words.

Bill Blass:
I think it is pretty safe to say that I have never heard of Bill Blass until this moment. But no matter, I like his collection! Lots of muted colors but I love how used grey/silver and pale blue together because currently that is my favourite color combination.

I plan to do more another day when I am not so lazy. Which is basically never. Maybe tomorrow? But then again, maybe not.

Fall Coats

Fall is coming (on the 22nd of September, which happens to be my birthday!!!) and fall means, among other things, coats. Not that my parents will be buying me a new one since the coat I got last year was just a teensy bit expensive (plus I still adore that coat, so, no matter). The white coat on the left is $199.00 USD from Urban Outfitters. It comes it white and brown but I love the way a fresh, white coat looks with the oranges and reds of fall. The 'mod-style shawl collar' is also a pretty sweet part of the coat but makes it a little bit harder to incorporate scarves (and that's sad because I just got two pashmina scarves in London that I'm dying to wear - not that it matters because I'm not getting a new coat as I've already mentioned).

The coat on the right is from Free People for $168.00 USD. It's a pretty classic trench style but I love the brown 'outlining' (the picture makes it look sort of black but it's brown). The rusted buttons (also can't really make those out in the picture) and herringbone pattern (again, can't see it very well in the picture) gives it a bit of a vintage feel. Not my favourite of the coats (that would have to be the white one) but it's still pretty cute.

And here's the last coat - to the left. So we're gonna ignore the price ($585.00 USD) because, as long as I'm sane, I will never pay that much for a coat. It's by L.A.M.B. and available from Nordstrom. Normally I'm not too keen on leopard print but I love leopard print coats. Even though they look horrible on me. There's not too much to say about this coat. If you wanna stand out, wear it. If you wanna blend in, don't.

Abaete for Payless

Big news!!! Well, for me - you probably wouldn't care. But you never know, you might! So anyways, the collection of Abaete shoes are coming to Payless in less than a month!!! On September 6 the collection comes out and since I love Abaete but can't exactly afford it, I'm quite excited they're coming to Payless with hopefully a little less expensive prices. Bahahaha, any then someone will buy me a pair for my birthday which is coming up in... 23 days. I'm infamously known in my family for my super-long birthday list - it's like, sorted and everything! It basically rocks.

Paisley Rainboots and Taxi Cabs

I don't know about you, but these are about the cutest rainboots I've ever seen. I have this thing about rainboots, I love them. Lauren's Mystery Vacation

Hey all you cool cats out there! I come bringing good news (well, good news for me, anyway). Lauren is going on vacation!!! But instead of being weak and giving in to my desire to rub it in your beautiful faces that I am going to (insert city name here) and you're not (well, at least not to my knowledge) I'm gonna make you guess. While some may call this tortcherous (which, apparently, isn't even a word), I call this a fun game!!! And I'm always up for a good game at someone else's expense. So, I'm gonna give you some hints and you're gonna guess. I will tell you eventually so please don't ruin my game by asking someone who already knows where I'm going and those who know where I'm going please don't 'guess' (it's not technically guessing if you already know) or tell those who don't know where I'm going. Alright, now that the rules have been laid down - here are your clues!!!

1. I leave on Thursday (that's not really a hint but if you wanted to know when I'm leaving you just got your answer)

2. I might die because our pilot will actually be a terrorist and I think we all know what happens when a terrorist takes over a plane (that's not really a clue either, just my imagination taking over my logic)

3. It's somewhere out of this continent

4. It's somewhere I've wanted to go almost all my life so I'm actually a little (but just a very little bit) sad that we're going there because now I'll never be able to dream about going there for the first time

5. I'm gonna go to Bible school there (well, hopefully - once I've graduated and all)

6. It's a famous fashion capital (can you say shopping spree!!!)

Not the best clues, I admit, but I'm lazy. And as always, I'm petrified of flying (mostly because I've convinced myself that there really will be a terrorist on our plane and I will die). And my mom says the airport is really tight on security (I'm scared of going through security too, I always think that someone's gonna, like, stick a gun in my bag without me noticing and then it will go through security and I'll be arrested for having a gun in my bag) so I can't bring my mp3 player or any other music listening device (not that it matters, I've broken every music listening device I own) and all I can bring as my carry on is a purse! Arghhh.

Anyone wanna hear a funny store of me at the airport? Yes, you know you do so feel free to read on!!! 'Kay, so, we were in an airport of some other country (Australia, maybe - I can't remember) and we got off the plane and were going to those little moving conveyer belts that I've always wanted to jump up on and ride (never have, I'm too scared the airport security will think I'm mental and take me to one of those mental hospitals where I'll have to spend the rest of my pitiful life) where you collect your luggage so we're waiting there for our luggage when some dogs (on leashes, of course) came up to us and we were asked if our bags had been 'sniffed' and they hadn't so we let the dogs sniff them and this one dog starts barking at my bag. And these dogs are supposed to detect drugs and stuff, right? So I'm standing there shaking making up all these scenarios when the security officer asks to look in my bag (which totally has me fearing for my life) and I relinquish my bag into his hands of steel (not literally - that's a metaphor) and they couldn't find what was making the dogs bark (which, for some reason, made me even more scared). I think I had some orange juice in there or something, apparently you're not supposed to bring fruit products into that country - ooops, my bad!

And sorry this is so long, I got carried away. It's what I do when I'm excited.

A Pity That I'm Not Yet 18!

So, whatever idiot decided that you must be legal drinking age in order to attend the Downtown Calgary Fashion Week Designer Gala - I hate you. With a passion. I mean, it's not like I planned on drinking when I went but now I can't go because there's no way I'm gonna pass for 18 and my dad already crushed my (well actually, it was his idea - I just took it to the next level) idea of a fake ID. Life is so unfair. So now I'm trying to convince my parents to let me miss some school so I can go to some other fashion shows, it's going surprisingly well!

And in other news, it was my first day at VBS (working there, not attending) and it was pretty fun. Except in the afternoon when we had to take the kids outside and it was scorching hot and this one little girl was blowing bubbles in my face. I didn't really like that.

And another exciting thing is this new collection of 'modern English' clothing from Anthropologie! If I was rich, I would probably live at that store cause it's basically my favourite. Well, I assume it's my favourite but I've never actually bought anything from there (or been in it for that matter - heh, heh, heh...). But, there's no way on earth I could ever, ever afford it so I'll just drown in my self pity. Haute Couture part 2

So, I was really hoping for some of those 'Lauren please update' comments but that didn't really end up happening. Sad boat. But anyways, my computer was being sooo slow which is why I never got to part 2, but I'm doing it now!!! Just a little sidenote, my fater attempted to fix the slowness of our computer like, 10 times and it never worked and then why I tried to fix it it worked - I am so brilliant. But anyways, here's the rest of the collections!

Elie Saab: Lush fabrics and elegant dresses kept everything gorgeous and gave a contemporary touch to eveningwear.

Givenchy: Main colors were brown/beige and black with some ethnic influences and a somewhat 'dark' look.

Jean Paul Gaultier: There's a mix of outrageous and formal that just seems to work, quirky pieces have been added to almost every outfit and many models have hair done up like a hat.

Valentino: A lot of different fabrics and textures, colors were kept fairly simple and monotone but the pieces held a lot of embellishments.

Haute Couture part 1

So, I was reading another blog a few days ago and there was a post about 'Haute Couture', I had heard of this before but wasn't too familiar with what it was exactly. So, being the nerd I am, I did a bit of research. It turns out that Haute Couture refers to exclusive fashions made from high quality fabrics and sewn with extreme attention and detail (and often use time-consuming methods). These Haute Couture shows took place this year between July 5 - 7 in Paris. I've only posted about some of the shows but check back in a few days (or this afternoon) for the rest of the collections!

Armani Privé: These skirt styles both seemed to be quite popular and the color palette was kept very simple using only navy blues, ivory, black, silver and grey.

Chanel: High (past-the-knee high) boots, dresses and coats seemed to be the trends in this collection. As usual, denim was popular and white and black were 2 of the main colors.

Christian Dior: This is one collection that could easily be compared to a costume party or masquerade. Masks were used over the eyes and thee was an excessive use of color. The combinations of colors and styles is so intriguing (not to mention a bit unexpected).

Christian Lacroix: This collection has some really gorgeous dresses and some that are still elegant but very unusual.

Becoming a Crazy Bag Lady

I always thought I didn't like LeSportsac because all the ads I saw were for their Tokidoki by LeSportsac collection which I don't like but I do like LeSportsac Classic. I can't exactly afford LeSportsac but hopefully my parents will buy me the bag I want for my birthday. Here are my 2 favourite bags at the moment: $65.00 by LeSportsac Classic. I love the floral pattern, the brown and pink look really great together and it's a cool shape for a purse.

$84.00, also by LeSportsac Classic. I'd probably get it pretty dirty because I just tend to get things dirty. I've wanted this style bag for a few weeks, I just never decided on a pattern but since they change up the patterns every so often some of the ones I like are gone. I love how the dots add color but it's not totally overwhelming and in-your-face.

I saw Superman last night, and I didn't understand some of it and therefore came up with these realllly weird ideas to satisfy my curiousity. Major, major weird ideas that I'm not even gonna tell you because they're too embarrasing. But anyways, Lois and Kitty (or Catherine or whatever her name was) both had really nice clothes. Lois had a very sophisticated and elegant style and Kitty had some great vintage chic stuff (and some weird stuff too, but that's not the point).

I started this post a few days ago except it wouldn't let me upload the pictures but I wanted to post it so I went through this confusing path of posting the draft and then copying and pasting the writing into a new post and then deleting the post without the pictures. Much more time consuming than it seems - but not really all that time consuming. Anyways, here is my Top 5 list of why I wish I lived in Australia - they all happen to be clothing articles (but would you expect anything else from me?)! Valleygirl will always be my favourite Australian store but unfortunately their site doesn't have one of those 'shop online' things - but you should look at their galleries cause they have some really great stuff.

1. Motif Racer Back, $49.95 AUD from Sportsgirl - I figured out last year in Australia that I can't afford Sportsgirl, but they have some really nice and fashionable stuff.

2. Lace Insert Gathered Sleeve Skivvy, $30.00 AUD from SUPRÉ - I'm so into this Victorian-style clothing right now. I can't even describe how much I love it. I love the detail and regality the lace adds to this top, gives the black a softer touch.

3. Puff Sleeve Empire Line Skivvy, $25.00 AUD from SUPRÉ - more Victorian-style, I told you I love it.

4. Weekend Hoodie, $39.95 at Cotton On AUD - I totally remember going into this store and trying on nice stuff except my dad took me there and he was sorta rushing me and I didn't get anything. But their stuff was very comfy, as comfy as it looks.

5. Tuxedo Sweat, $19.95 AUD from Just Jeans - I love tuxedo-style stuff almost as much as I love Victorian-style. Plus this is on sale.

Now, I hope you all are having a great summer. I am so bored but I've decided to volunteer at my church day camp for a week - probably in July but I guess I'll see where they need people. Semi-Exciting News From My Past

So it is 8:41 in the morning and I am completely dressed and have had a shower and I am so tired but I woke up because my cousin (and aunt and uncle) had to go to a field hockey game and were a wee bit loud. But I've discovered I like field hockey, I don't really understand it but there's this cool thing called a short corner (or so I think) where four players go into their goalie's net and then when someone from the other team hits it they all rush out and it's just quite exciting even though I'm doing a horrible job explaining it. And now I'm a bit mad at myself because my cousin wanted to teach me to play field hockey but I didn't want to learn but now I do. Anyways, I have learned some exciting news from my past. Like, way exciting. I honestly pinched myself to make sure that this news was real. You'll probably think it's boring news but I find it extraordinarily fascinating. So these are the 2 pieces of news:
1. At one point in my life there have been 2 sports that I was good at. Like, not good-average, good-good. These sports were girls hockey and girls soccer. I think it's just this co-ed stuff that I suck at.
2. At the point in my life that I was good at girls soccer I was also (this is pretty crazy) aggressive. Me who cannot throw the ball hard enough in bocci ball was aggressive. This justs blows my mind.

And then I went home after my cousins' field hockey game and me and Gill rode bikes to Dairy Queen (where, by the way, I got a job application but I'm not sure if I'll turn it in) and on the way back home I fell off my bike. Now I have a bruise on my right knee (and I think it's the most vibrant bruise I've ever had, it's practically neon) and both my palms are like black and swollen and my right palm has a few scrapes on it. I think that was God's way of telling me that I am no longer good at sports and athletics.

Today I'm wearing a dress that I got when me and Keri went to the mall and I like this dress and I'm wearing it with jeans and it makes me happy because I like dresses. And I'm also happy cause the gross 'thing' on my foot that I got from my clogs like, half a year ago is starting to go away!

Like The Stock Market... But Way Less Boring!

This is one of the funnest things I've played in a while. Well, it's not that fun but it is fun. It's called the Fashionista Challenge and it's basically like the stock market with celebrity fashions. It's a little confusing at first (actually, it still sorta confuses me) but it is fun. And I love how business-like I feel buying fake stocks and all. Which brings me to my next point, I absolutely love business clothing. I'm gonna make myself work in an office just for the clothes. Except that I'm gonna be a fashion designer. Well, I guess I'll figure all that out later. But I do love business clothes - pencil skirts and pinstriped suits and sophisticated dresses - so dreamy. And that brings me to my next point - I got a dress on Tuesday! My mom even paid for some of it because I can wear it to my cousin's wedding. Except I can also wear it over jeans which is what I prefer. Plus my black wedge heels will probably (and hopefully) look good with it. Except that I still have sores on my feet from the last (and last last) time I wore them.

And did anyone watch 'Cow Belles' tonight? I rented it on DVD and I watched it once yesterday and once today and I love it. I probably like it better than High School Musical - but I still love High School Musical. Anyways, Cow Belles seems like a more serious (and slightly unrealistic) plot. Aly and AJ are the stars and I love them and in this movie they have such nice clothes. There were some really great outfits, it's so inspiring! But there's one part I absolutely hate and I'm not sure why. And there's one character that looks unbelieavably fake like she's wearing too much cover up.

Commenting 101

So, it has come to my attention that certain members of society are clueless on commenting. And I know this because people have told me (not because I am overly egotistic and think that everyone must read my blog 'cause I'm brilliant). So here's to you, a basic step-by-step guide on commenting. And I'll be really embarrased if no one comments after I give you this little outline so I'm basically begging you to comment!
1. Draw your eyes down towards the bottom of the post, you know when you've reached the bottom because it will say 'posted by rorytherocket at 0:00 0 comments'
2. Role over the '0 comments' portion a few times; watch the color switch from purple to green - mesmerizing, isn't it? And, if you scroll over fast enough sometimes you will get a green underline with purple text or vice versa.
3. Now, click!
4. Suddenly, the page you have become so dearly attached to has vanished. But, never fear, simply look to the right of the screen and start typing me a looong message, if you're a Blogger member click the little thing beside 'Blogger' and if you're not select 'Other' and type in your name.
5. Now publish. Yay, I have a new comment (or hopefully I will)!

White Houses and Tailored Shorts

So... here's what I gotta say:
1. I'm obsessed with the song White Houses by Vanessa Carlton at the moment. I didn't like it that much at first but, what can I say, it grows on you. I've honestly listened to it about 20 times in a row.
2. My father (whom I love, but sometimes - grrr) forgot to scan 2 of my designs that I gave him (he was supposed to bring them to work today but he forgot - why am I not surprise). So anyways, hopefully he'll scan them tomorrow and then, my dearest Gill, you will be able to see 'Target Practice'.
3. I am forever hugely grateful to Keri for introducing me to Urban Behavior. Now, I've heard of it before and even been in there (but not recently) but I've always thought of it as one of those commercial-graphic tee kinda places. But anyways, I looked on their site just a little while ago and they have some really cute stuff. So Keri, I will do anything (anything = lots of things but not everything) in order to give you my proper thanks.
4. Tailored shorts are so cute! I could never wear them cause I wouldn't be able to pull them off plus I hate wearing shorts (except bermuda shorts). Anyways, I like them and they remind me of something from the movie The Greatest Game Ever Played (Shia LeBeouf is quite hot - and the movie's really good too except when I went to see it they experienced 'technical difficulties' during the most exciting part and that sorta sucked) even though in the movie girls wore dresses. But whatever, that's what it reminds me of.
From... Urban Behavior (thanks again to the one and only Keri). I have a feeling I'm really gonna like this store. They're $27.50 CDN and come in a brown color too (which I think would be a lot nicer) but, unfortunately, I couldn't get a picture of those. Anyways, these are full out tailored shorts with the little buttons and 'poofiness' and all. They're pretty cute.The chocolate brown color is just so rich and I lofe (lofe = love with a German/Austrian accent) it! Because I love chocolate. Especially Lindt and Milka Happy Cow. And back to the shorts, I love chocolate and I love pinstripes and that's pretty much all there is to it. Buy them for $19.80 at Forever 21 (because Forever 21 has everything you could ever want and more).They sorta look like they're made of denim (but they're not) and they've kinda got the whole pinstriped thing going on (stripes are quite key in tailored shorts, or at least the nice ones). But the real reason I love them is defintately the buttons! Although they sorta draw interest to a little bit of an akward place. Nonetheless, they're cute and $19.80 USD from Forever 21 (where else).

A Little Ray of Chanel Sunshine

Actually, I've never really had a favourite quote before so I guess that's my favourite quote of ever. I don't have much time to write any fantastic philisophical things because I have to study. And by have to I mean have to or else I will get another test score like today's social test on the provincials and we most certainly don't want that. But I am here to deliver some sunshine to your cloudy day - here are my 2 most favourite Chanel designs straight from the runway! But really, I love all Chanel designs, the elegance and use of classic colors and materials is gorgeous!

So, there's this one line of this song stuck in my head and I can't remember what song it is. I think it's by The Veronicas but I don't know what the song is called. If anyone knows please, please tell me cause it's driving me crazy. The line is as follows: "Maybe there's beauty in good-bye." I don't really see how there's beauty in good-bye because, personally, I hate good-byes. But anyways, it's a relatively good song. And a song that is certainly not good is Paris Hilton's new single 'Stars are Blind'. And the video for it is retarded. Anways, I know blazers are kind of out of season and all but I've lately seen 2 that I really like! They're both in that madras pattern that seems to be so popular lately. And better yet, they're both on sale! Here they are:

This ones from Gap, it's $39.99 USD. The colors are quite summery. I suppose you could wear it in summer if you wanted too. I'd probably die of heat stroke though. I was not made for hot climatic regions.

This one's from Old Navy and it's a happy price of $20.00 USD. Once I went to Old Navy on the USA/Mexico border. I was on the USA side. I got a cute shirt there. And I got it in a rather large size so it still fits me. I wore it a couple times last year. But back to this blazer, I like it a lot. They also have it in a rust/black/orange color pattern. And, I feel I should give all clothing articles a chance to prove their worth but this one is just ugly. I'm sure it has a good heart and is longing to be worn by someone though (I have a habit of giving material objects personalities and hearts - and if you don't already think I'm weird, surely there's no doubt in your mind about that matter now).

Random Ramblings of Rory

Hey dudes. Check it out: Keri's got a new blog, Old Navy has wonderfully fabulous wedge heels and the weekend has finally arrived. And so anyways, today I had this brief mental lapse and could not figure out if I had been to Germany or not. I honestly could not figure it out and I'm not even lying, thankfully I remembered that I had been there before I went home and asked my parents. "Parents, have I ever been to Germany?" Hmm, maybe not.

I really enjoyed that little moment in social class where Jordan was told to read louder and Lacey said, "Like me!" in a rather bold voice. That was my last happy moment before going into the dreaded social final which I quite honestly think I failed. Even though I sprayed some revitalizing body mist on myself, supposed to envelop the mind with confidence - ya right.

Hey all you radical beings. Imagine for one moment that the entire human population has turned into different varieties of canned pickles, how do you feel? And more importantly, what variety are you? So I just wanted to say that I got some pictures from the Spring Formal and other stuff downloaded if you wanna look at them on Flickr or if you wanna you can also look at some pictures from my trip to Austrlia last summer just for the fun of it (also on Flickr). And also my piano recital is coming so if any of you wanna be bored for like an hour, maybe 2 and then hear me drastically mess up a perfectly lovely song then you should definately come. I'm playing The Prayer which is sung by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. So anyways, if you wanna come (and trust me I won't be offended if no one does) e-mail me or phone me or come to my house with a slice of lemon meringue pie or talk to me at school tomorrow or something. But I'm not sure if I'll be at school tomorrow, probably will though. And before I forget, the recital is this Sunday at some church at 4 or 5 or sometime and there will probably be other kids from school there playing piano but I don't exactly know who.

Because I'm cool, I've decided to do 2 posts on the same day and almost the same time. So, if you haven't read my other post go back and read it. Although you won't really care about it unless you're Celine or Romy. And now I'm doing a post about fashion because this is turning into somewhat of a fashion blog due to Celine's fabulous guidance. Actually, it's not really about fahsion 'cause it's about t-shirts which aren't really what I'd classified as fashion. They're more a style. But whatever because even though I don't usually like graphic tees, I like these ones. Plus they're comfortable. Especially for exams.

Rain is pretty much my favourtie type of weather and seeing as there is rain on te tee, I was just sort of drawn too it. I like the colors and everything too though. It's $24.00 USD from Urban Outfitters.

Also from Urban Outfitters and also $24.00 USD. It happens to be almost identical to the shirt Lauren from BarlowGirl wore at YC in their first concert. I really like it, I liked it when she wore it this weekend too. I think I might just buy it. I might just buy all of these actually.

Dinosaurs are cool. Especially primary-colored dinosaurs. You can buy this for $24.00 USD from Delia's (unless you buy 2 t-shirts and in that case you get some kind of deal).

It's from Delia's and it's $26.00 USD. I think I might just start a trend with these heart covered tees. Which wouldn't be all that bad because as some song which I happen to like a lot says, "Where is the love?" Sorry for my cheesiness.

From Forever 21, it's pretty bright yet still manages to look cute. It would probably look pretty good on someone. So someone, buy it. It's only $15.80 USD.

So much to say and so much homework. So first of all, we had a soccer game today and we lost and this girl totally tripped me and ran over me and my leg and knee are quite sore. At least if I experience any horrible, searing pain tomorrow I'll already be at the hospital. And second of all- happy birthday to my good buddies Ceeny-Bear and Romsie! I love you guys to death! You babes are now 15 and a whole 4 monthes older than me (but your birthdays aren't on the Fall Equinox so ha). Maybe I'll give you guys a German Tatty Teddy Happy Birthday card. We'll see.

Color Me Orange

Well, it's common knowledge that I love orange. And, I know that orange isn't an "in" color or anything at the moment (which explains the scarce amount of orange shirts) but I wanted to do a post on them anyways!

This shirt is from GoJane, it's called the Jorgensen Top and it's $20.99 USD. I have a feeling the fake silver diamonds would fall off pretty quickly but I love the little-girliness they add.

It just looks sooo comfy. I want it. It's $88.00 USD and although it's by C&C California they don't show it on their website, to learn more about it or buy it, go to ShopBop. And it's called the Angel Sleeve Winnie - weird name, I know.

Another C&C California top, you can buy this one from C&C California (but only in blue) or ShopBop for $88.00. I've never really enjoyed the dark orange stripe color but it doesn't look too bad on this top. It's called the Whiskey Macgraw Stripe - where do they come up with these names!

What Will Never Be

So, for anyone who watched The O.C. last night and is currently reading this (ex. Romy. Well, I hope she's/you're reading this), Marissa died. And if you didn't watch it, you probably heard someone talking about and knew that already. I just heard that Josh Shwartz (the producer) was the one who decided to get rid of Marissa, it wasn't Mischa who said she wanted to quit although she was, at times, uncooperative. I find it quite horrible that he would fire a member of the core four out of his own free will. Anyways, some people are getting quite emotional over this whole thing, and, I'll admit, I was sad and I still am but it's a show and Mischa Barton is still alive. Anyways, I found this and it sorta made me laugh although it is a very sweet gesture:

A Toast to Formal Fashion part 2

Sooo, the Spring Formal is only hours away and I just got my hair done and now there's nothing to do so, I've decided to continue my toast. These dresses are designer dresses, straight off the runway. And it's pretty much impossible I will ever own one of these dresses but I can still ogle.

This is a Basso and Brooke dress, very cute and I love the little guitar-like thing around the waist.
Once again this is Basso and Brooke, love the neckline and how it fades into white at the bottom!

I adore Chanel and this is one of my very favourite Chanel designs, not many people can make white look this good!

I'm really starting to love Kenzo and all the bright colors they use, this dress is modelled by Heather Marks who happens to be one of my very favourite models!

A Toast to Formal Fashion

The Spring Formal is tomorrow. Hopefully you all knew that. And since no asked me to do a special little toast tomorrow, I have made up my own toast. So, this is my toast to formal fashion. Here are 4 dresses I absolutely love, please admire with me.

The pattern isn't really all that formal but it's definately cute! I love the style, especially the big bow in the front. I have a thing for big bows. But, this is sort of an expensive dress for Spring Formal if you ask me. It's $328.00 USD from Anthropologie. Sadly there's no Anthropologie stores in Canada, they're making one is New York though, let's all go to New York!

This dress is from Nordstrom, it's only $48.00 USD which is pretty reasonable. I'd never wear it though, too low cut for me. And low cut isn't very comfortable. And comfort is quite important to me.

This dress is from Forever 21 and is $27.80 USD which is really a great deal. It's really summerish. And that's probably a good thing seeing how it's almost summer. And, we all know that Forever 21 is the best store and there's one in West Eddie which rocks.

The last dress, and this is one that you can actually get in Calgary! It's from Gap, $68.00 USD. It's not exactly formal though, it's really summery and looks rather comfortable. If it was cheaper I'd probably buy it cause lately I really like dresses.

I've Got a Secret

So, what can I say? I want these shoes. More accurately, I need these shoes. Well, obviously that's an exaggeration, but, I'm getting off topic. They're pretty much sneakers with heels which is undoubtedly my kinda sneaker. They come in black, beige, army green and blue denim, the denim and black are my personal favourites, though. You can also get them with a lower back or backless. They're from Vintage Laundry (The 80s Collection) and sadly, not a part of my shoe collection. If someone wanted to lend me the money I could buy them for a mere $39.99 USD... And I have to say I'd be mad at you if you bought them seeing as I was the one who found them and might still buy them. Got that? To put in plainly, you can admire these shoes but don't you dare buy them. Well, now that we've got that sorted out, what's everybody who's going to the Explore IT thingee wearing? I got some stuff at Forever 21 (officially the best store, besides Valleygirl, of course) and I'm wearing a shirt from there which I can't speak of to any of you because lately, I'm quite into surprises. Like how much of a secret I've managed to keep my Spring Formal dress (yes, it is a dress) and only told 1 person about it! But back to the shoes, ironically they're called Top Secret which was the topic of about half this post. Actually, technically it was surprises but there would be no such thing as surprises if it wasn't for the secrets.

Big Words and Smelly Things

So, officially there's a hockey game on tonight. And, I am officially not going. But, my brother is. And so is my grandpere. Which reminds me, there's a French quiz tomorrow, better get on that. But back to the hockey game, I quite hope that the Flames win cause that would just be special. And I would be quite happy. More than happy, ecstatic! Has anyone seen the movie Akeelah and the Bee? I want to see it unbelievably much! And you know at Starbucks how they're like 'sponsoring' it or whatever you wanna call it and they have all those cool words on the windows and stuff? I got these 2 little cards with cool big words on them!!! And if I could remember them I might just add them to my vocabulary. But anyways, anyone wanna see Akeelah and the Bee with me? I'll go with anyone, even if you smell funny or look ugly. Not that I know anyone who smells funny or looks ugly. Speaking of smell, I have an abnormal obsession with smelly things. Smelly candles, body mist, I love it all. Especially body mist. Like today I misted So Pink from Gap on myself. And then Keri said I smelled good. And I smiled. I love you Keri.

They Call Me Weird

Hey dudes. We go to school tomorrow. That makes me quite sad. I worked in the nursery at my church this morning and this one cute little boy would start crying if I didn't hold him so I had to hold him for the whole time and he kept slobbering on me so I officially smell like baby slobber. And then we ate lunch at Bostonian Pizzeria (aka Boston Pizza). I watched the hockey game last night and I was happy because Calgary won. I hope they win the Stanley Cup cause that would probably make me happy too. I had gelato yesterday, that also made me happy. Dolce de Leche gelato from Amato Gelato (I like saying that cause it pretty much rhymes and rhymes make me happy). So even though I haven't used a single exclamation mark yet, I am happy. And at church this choir of grandpas sang and they were so cute, and I wanted to buy their CD cause I liked it even though they were singing, like, hymns but I didn't because they weren't selling it like they said they would. Sad boat. Ho-kay, I gotta go find me some dessert.

Ho-kay, so, if you scroll to the affiliates section of the sidebar of my blog you will see lovely little link buttons thingees and they both work except then I tried to put Gill's button on and it was somehow linked to Celine's page and I was so annoyed and frustrated because I get annoyed and frustrated anymore so I decided I would try again later. And now I am happy again cause I'm listening to Pandora and it's playing all these songs that I like, like When It All Falls Apart by the Veronicas and Don't Cry For Pain by Ana Johnsson. Yup, I like those songs. And in other happy news, the OC is on tonight. And more happy news is that I just watched Little Manhatten 2 nights ago. So, if anyone wants to help me figure out how to get Gill's button linked to Gill's site I would be quite pleased for your help. And also, you people have to remind me to give you my cell phone number so you can call me because I want people to call me on it!!! And my last piece of happy news is that that there flower reminds me of spring and lovely bright colors.

I am so unbelievably not in the mood to write anything, especially after writing an entire essay at school. Which I failed, by the way. To Worlds Beyond The Apple Orchard

I am going to a 'world beyond the apple orchard'. Well, actually, I'm just going to Banff. And I'm gonna get fudge and eat at The Keg and buy absolutely nothing because I am totally out of cash. Well, not totally, I have like 15 bucks. And I need to get a new swimsuit. Don't think I'll be able to buy one for 15 bucks. So, does anyone wanna give me some cash? I have piano this morning. Blah. I'm going to the library after piano to get books to read on the way to Banff. How fascinating. I read a creepy book the other day. It's called 'A Novel Idea'. Very, very interesting. Anyways. I have to get ready for piano. I can not play piano in the morning. My hands are like, asleep. Hey, this is funny so I gotta tell you. I was on Pandora and I typed in The Veronicas and it came up with this little blurb about having a female lead singer and stuff. And then they played Kalan Porter. And I think that's funny because Kalan Porter is not a female. Has anyone else seen his new hair cut? Ugly, ugly, ugly. He used to be so hot and now he's just creepy looking.

To anybody actually reading this monotonous work of art, welcome! As you might have noticed, I nicknamed myself 'rory the rocket' due to my sudden interest in space. Actually, I could really care less about space but I do like the space ships. And I would like them even more if they were painted in bold colors and pretty patterns.

You might just be wondering about the purpose of this blog. And I will tell you straight out, it has absolutely no purpose. I will post whatever I want because it is my blog. But please do leave comments. Nice comments. And also comments of whether or not you want me to keep writing in this blog or if you think it is lame, because this is sorta a trial as to whether I'm gonna keep writing in this or not. And comments about what I should write about because I honestly have no idea in the least what I shall write about. Here is an example comment if you are to preposterous to think of your own:
